It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

It’s two days after Thanksgiving and as far as I’m concerned, the Christmas season is in full swing! I’m so excited to celebrate my favorite holiday with my family and loved ones in just over a month. Scroll down to see 25 reasons I’d say Christmastime is truly the most wonderful time of the year!

  • Christmas involves an entire season dedicated to celebrating the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
  • Loved ones drive in or fly home, and families are together for the holidays.
  • Cookies. There are Christmas cookies everywhere!
  • It’s heartwarming to buy thoughtful gifts for family members and friends.
  • And it’s fun to wrap them in bright wrapping paper with matching ribbons and bows.
  • Ice skating is a fun way to spend a chilly afternoon (even if you’re like me and consider it an accomplishment to go 5 minutes in ice skates without falling down).
  • Hot chocolate becomes a staple.
  • Reading while a wood fire burns in the fireplace is an absolute delight.
  • Driving down residential streets at night is so much more enjoyable when there are twinkling lights hanging from every roof.
  • Radio stations play 24/7 Christmas music all throughout the month.
  • Whether it’s going to a holiday play, Christmas Eve church service, or a fancy holiday party, there are more reasons to dress up.
  • Christmas movies like Elf and How The Grinch Stole Christmas (the animated version, of course).
  • Congregations sing Christmas hymns like O Come, O Come Emmanuel and What Child Is This?
  • Picking out an evergreen at a Christmas tree farm is the perfect way to kick off the season.
  • Schools go on break!
  • It’s nearly impossible to decorate a gingerbread house and not have fun.
  • Polished red nails and toes, and sometimes, red lips.
  • Family photos and Christmas letters.
  • Hanging ornaments on the tree while reminiscing about Christmases past.
  • Fresh-fallen snow…if that happens to be a thing where you live.
  • New pajamas on Christmas Eve.
  • Waking up early on Christmas morning to open presents.
  • Most everyone gets in the Christmas spirit and is more generous, joyful, and kind.
  • It’s a Wonderful Life is a classic. (“What is it you want, Mary? You want the moon?”)
  • Luke 2:1-20.
